My Mini Whovian
Recently, my boyfriend and I were talking about Isaac Asimov’s 3 Laws of Robotics, one of which being that robots aren’t allowed to hurt humans. Just then, my 7 year old daughter ran into the room, furious. She says “Mom. The Daleks are robots and they hurt people all the time!” I know, technically they are cyborgs, but it was adorable anyway. Plus, we got to explain to her...

Discovered a geekling at work...
I was reading a story to class of 4 year olds today. The story featured a character called Jenny, one little boy put his hand up and said: “The Doctor’s daughter is called Jenny”
To which I replied “Yes, yes she is, here have a high 5 and a big sticker”
Makes my day when I discover a geekling at school

I have just been to Dale-Con, my home towns very own Sci Fi convention. There was 10th Doctor cosplayer doing pictures with people and such. I was chatting to him when this little boy about 4 ran up to him and said:
“Doctor will you come to my birthday party”
It was so cute I nearly cried, the Doctor was very nice and told the boy that he didn’t know where in time and space her...

A Mother’s Prayer for Her Child By Tina Fey
Though I am not religious I still wish some of these things for my daughter:
A Mother’s Prayer for Her Child By Tina Fey
“First, Lord: No tattoos. May neither Chinese symbol for truth nor Winnie-the-Pooh holding the FSU logo stain her tender haunches.
May she be Beautiful but not Damaged, for it’s the Damage that draws the creepy soccer coach’s eye, not the Beauty.
When the Crystal Meth is...

Damn you science! Conversation with my 5 year old
My 5 year old Xander was telling me about his day:
“Today we played zombies, big Oliver was the zombie, we shot him with arrows and he would fall down then get back up again. so we collected C-Bombs and threw them at him, he fell down and was destroyed so he went to science and science fixed him so he came back, so we shot him with arrows again.”

Dice Training
Tonight my daughters homework required a pack of cards in order to create random 2 digit numbers. I couldn’t find a pack of cards, which is annoying because I know I have at least two, but I quickly realised who needs a pack of cards when I have a large collection of D10s?
So this evening not only did my daughter improve her math skills she also got to practice her dice rolling skills for...
